We’re excited to share a major achievement for Friends In Need Food Bank Society — we are now officially accredited through Food Banks Canada’s Standards of Excellence program!

 

This accreditation recognizes organizations that demonstrate strong practices in areas such as client care, food operations, safe food handling, governance, and overall organizational leadership. Reaching this milestone required an in‑depth review of our systems and processes, and it reflects the dedication and hard work of our staff, volunteers, and Board of Directors.

 

While this recognition doesn’t change our day‑to‑day mission, it does offer added confidence to our community, donors, and partners that Friends In Need operates with transparency, responsibility, and nationally recognized standards.

 

We’re grateful to everyone who contributed to this accomplishment.

 

Friends In Need Food Bank Society is thrilled to share that we’ve received $25,000 from the Canada Post Community Foundation to support and strengthen our Perishable Food Recovery Program.

 

This program runs every day, rescuing fresh, high‑quality food and redirecting it to families across Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows. With uncertainty surrounding the long‑term location of our recovery facility, this funding arrives at an especially important time. It will help us stabilize the program, prepare for future changes, and ensure that recovered fresh food continues reaching the neighbours who depend on it.

 

We’re deeply grateful to the Canada Post Community Foundation for their belief in our work and their commitment to local food security. Every contribution helps us recover more food, reduce waste, and support more families.
